Our mission
The Brave Bots 9445 is the FIRST Robotics Competition team based at Bonner Springs High School, founded in 2024 during the CRESCENDO season. The team was started by Carter Stolberg, who brought experience from other FRC programs and a vision for building something new: a fresh, student-driven team where members could learn real engineering skills, grow as leaders, and create a strong robotics culture from the ground up. Our mission is to develop students through hands-on STEM experiences that translate to the real world, grounded in innovation, integrity, and fun.
As a newer team, our story is defined by growth. We began with 13 students in 2024, expanded to 36 in 2025, and are approaching 50 members in 2026 reflecting our commitment to welcoming new students and ensuring anyone can contribute, whether they arrive with experience or are trying robotics for the first time. We are intentionally student-led, with students taking ownership of decisions and work while mentors provide guidance, training, and safety oversight. Our team is organized into dedicated subteams Build, Programming, Electrical, Design, Media/Business, and Strategy so students can develop specialized skills while learning how every part of a competitive robot and a sustainable team fits together.
We measure success by more than match results, and we’re proud of what we’ve built early on. In our rookie season we earned the Rookie All-Star Award, and in our second year we earned the Imagery Award in honor of Jack Kamen recognition of both our foundation and the identity we represent. Brave Bots 9445 is sustained through community support, and we are grateful for the mentors, sponsors, school administration, parents, and local businesses who make our season possible. Above all, we are committed to growing a program that strengthens Bonner Springs, prepares students for the future, and represents our community with pride one season, one robot, and one new student at a time.
